Flies
Flies belong to the Diptera Order. They are provided with two efficient functional wings. They have eyes made up of hundreds of facets. The adult does not have jaws, and there are jaws with a sucking, licking or mincing proboscis. They are species of complete metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa, adult). The one of greatest sanitary importance for man is the house fly, (Musca domestica), which lives in close relationship with humans. Females lay 200 to 1,000 eggs and complete their cycle in 8 to 12 days under favorable conditions, and up to 2 months in winter. Other species of importance are the stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans), a blood-sucking parasite; Lesser house fly (Fannia cannicularis); Vinegar fly (Drosophila melanogaster); Meat fly (Sarcophaga carnaria).

Habits
Some species of fly bite and consume blood (Tabanidae, Stomoxis), others feed on carrion (Sarcophagidae), garbage and waste (Muscidae); many transmit diseases (tsetse fly), some are phytosanitary pests, others live at the expense of other insects, while others help plant pollination. Their unclean habits make the House Fly an important mechanical vector of various diseases. They are collectors of pathogenic organisms in the garbage, drains and other multiple sources of dirt and waste, which are then transmitted from their mouthparts and other parts of the body, through their vomit (regurgitation) or from their droppings to the food of animals and humans.
Prevention
Due to its great capacity for proliferation and its short biological cycle, it is a species that is difficult to control and that can be more easily resistant to insecticides – it is recommended to apply sanitation measures in the surroundings such as reducing waste sites, waste and other organic sources that serve this species to reproduce and feed. Mechanical and biological control methods can also be implemented.
